What is Batch Sender?

Batch Sender is a command line tool, that can run on Windows (DOS), Solaris, Linux, AIX, HPUX (if you need we can make a special executable for other OS like Mac OS X, SCO, BSD, IRIX, Tru64, ...) in the same way.
You need an SMTP host (in your company o in your ISP). With Batch Sender you can use SMTP to send batch emails.

Why do you need Batch Sender?

Batch Sender is the program you are looking for if you have an old script, program that works in every OS and you'll need too much time to develop the email support.
Batch Sender is chip and powerful.
This is only the first public release. At the moment it doesn't support attach but it supports not simple fetures like notify and priority.

Configure and run Batch Sender

batchsender [-options]
where options include:
-help to print the line help
-verbose to print verbose messages
-test like verbose (doesn't send the message)
-configure file to use a specific configuration file (the default is batchsender.cfg in the same directory as batchsender.exe)
-to "name@domain.com" the receiver or the receivers e.g. "name1@domain.com,name2@domain.com"
-cc "name@domain.com" cc
-bcc "name@domain.com" bcc
-from "yourname@yourdomain.ext" the sender (please change the default nobody@nobody.com with your true email address)
-notify "yourname@yourdomain.ext" the email where to send the MS notification
-priority 1 or 3 or 5 the email priority
-smtp host_name or ip address the host name or the ip address of the SMTP server
-subject subject the subject of the message
-body body the body of the message (\n to put a new line, \t to put a tab)

Here an example batchsender -to "info@pivari.com,fabrizio@pivari.com" -from "Fabrizio Pivari <fabrizio@pivari.com>" -sub "This is Test" -body "This is an important\n\nTEST!" -smtp 10.0.0.0

  1. Batch Sender uses the file batchsender.cfg as its configuration file. This file must reside in the same directory as the batchsender.exe file, since it searches for this file at runtime. You can create your own batchsender.cfg file.
Inside this batchsender.cfg, you can change the values for the smtp, from, notify, priority, subject, body, body_file
  2. To change any of these values, you just need to edit batchsender.cfg. You can also create a new .cfg file and tell batchsender.exe to read it at runtime, using the -configure yourfile.cfg option.
  3. Pay attention: the settings in batchsender.cfg are less important that the ones from command line.

The only varible you don't have already in command line is body_file. It allows you to write the body text in the file you have selected (you can use absolute and relative path).
