CURRENT_MEETING_REPORT_ Reported by Joyce K. Reynolds/Information Sciences Institute Minutes of the User Services Working Group (USWG) Report on User Services Area Activities The USWG session opened with a report on IETF User Services Area activities. Two new working groups have been established since the Danvers IETF, HARTS and USERGLOS. Two working groups were shut down in Danvers, QUIS and IIIR. Related USV Area Internet-Drafts that have been issued recently are products of the RUN, SSH, and TRAINMAT Working Groups. A Read the Label BOF (RTL), chaired by Vint Cerf, was held in the USV Area in Stockholm. Liaison Reports David Hartland provided a liaison report on the TERENA ISUS meeting held on Sunday, 16 July. Other reports were presented on additional related global liaison group activities and international conferences, including the IESG and USV Area Presentations at the RIPE meeting plenary, the annual JENC (Joint European Networking Conference), the ISOC Workshop for Developing Countries, and the INET95 Conference. USWG Projects Progress/discussion of USWG projects was next on the USWG's agenda. They included the USV-WEB, USV-HTML, and USV-TV. o USV-WEB Updates/deletions to the USV-WEB have been made. These can be found at: http://rs.internic.net/usv-index.html. Very special thanks to the following InterNIC folks for their continued support and work on this endeavor: Stan Borinski (Webmaster), Mark Kosters, Debbie Hamilton, and Susan Calcari. o USV-HTML The HTMLing of FYI RFCs has been completed and the documents have been placed by the RFC Editor in ISI's FYI RFC repository. They can be found at: http://www.isi.edu/in-notes/fyi/fyi-index.html. [Note: New HTML updates have been received by the RFC Editor to amend to the above pointer. The RFC Editor will add those as soon as they return to the office, about one week after the Stockholm IETF.] Janet Marcisak of FTP Software is to be congratulated for all of her work in the HTMLing of these FYI RFCs. Without her efforts, this project would not have become a reality for the USV Area of the IETF. Thank you JML, from all of us in USV! The following folks at ISI are also to be commended in assisting the USV Area Director in the effort of moving the documents over to the ISI site, and setting up the WEB links: Jon Postel and Suzanne Woolf of Div7, and Tom Nelson in the ISI Action Office. o USV-TV There was nothing new to report with the USV-TV project. It has been a frustrating endeavor so far. After some round table discussion, it was suggested that a new committee be formed to kick start this particular project. The following people volunteered to work with JKRey in the next few months: Jill Foster, April Marine, Jodi Ito, Bob Enger, Mark Prior, Dirk van Gulik, and Pien Voortman. Status of The NISI Working Group In the last 15 minutes of the session, April Marine reported on the current status of the NISI Working Group. NISI has just one item left on its plate and then it will probably close down. There is one Internet-Draft that the group needs to produce, if not in the NISI forum, perhaps as a project in the USWG. Meanwhile, the InterNIC (Debbie Hamilton) has set up a test version of NISI's NIC Locator Data. It lives at: http://ds0.internic.net/ds/niclocate.html.
