File: german_pc12.zip Author: Dirk Steins (dsteins@ibm.net) Release: 1.2 Compatibility: all Location: /pub/contrib/misc Description: A german pc compatible keyboard map Notes: This is a complete german keyboard map which maps the keyboard identical to a PC running under DOS or Windows for a standard 102 key PC keyboard on a BeBox or for BeOS R3 Intel. That means Alt-Gr (and not Ctrl) is used for {[]}~|ยต@, and the missing key for greater and lower and pipe is also working. Even dead keys work correctly, not like the maps provided by Be, so now you can type in a tilde (see: ~) and a ^. Much better for programming ;-) If you wanna use this map with a 105 key keyboard with the Windows 95 keys you should probably edit the file and adapt the first block with the command key usage. It would be nice if Be would include this map into future versions of BeOS and if Be would fix the Keymap application so that every key would be displayed, not only the US style 101 keys. I made this map since the Be provided German and German-latin1 maps are completely insufficient. The German-latin1 map is not so bad, but for a PC user they are both unacceptable. Release 1.01: The 789 and 123 lines on the numeric keypad were swapped as it was in the original german_latin1 map. Release 1.2: The euro update. Now you can type the euro sign by using the AltGr-e key following the suggestion of the european community. For using the euro sign you need some fonts which include it. Microsoft provides some of them on their web site. I hope that this time this map makes it into BeOS R4! Usage: keymap -l
