You can sort files and folders either by name, by extension, by size or date. Name and extension sorting can be either case sensitive or case insensitive.
Ascending means that the items are output from 0 to 9 and from A to Z. Descending is a reverse to ascending. When ascending is specified, then folders come first. When descending is specified, then files come first.

You can build directories recursively.
No recursion | Just the directory itself is processed |
1 level | The directory and all its child directories are processed |
2 levels | The directory, all its child directories and all their direct child folders are processed |
... | |
Unlimited levels | Processing is done for all levels of depth |
Recursive size & stats in the folder summary. If this checkbox is checked then for each folder the stats are calculated taking into account all its nested descendants (on unlimited levels), if this checkbox is unchecked, then the flat stats are shown. This checkbox doesn't depend on what options are selected in "No recursion" to "Unlimited levels". Note, the stats are calculated only for those files and folders that pass the filter.
Suppress folders that have no file descendants. If this checkbox is checked then those folders that have no descendant files (have no children or have only nested folders) are not processed. Note, this takes only those files and folders that pass the filter. For example, if a folder contains a single file "file.txt", and you include only "*.html" files, then such folder will have a zero recursive size, and if the checkbox is checked, the folder will be excluded from listing.

Show file items in listing means if to show the file items in the listing of each folder. You can turn it off if you need to see only summary for each folder in the listing. For example, if you need to monitor the disk quotas.
Show directory items in listing means if to show the subfolder items in the listing of each folder. This checkbox affects only the listing of each folder, it is not related to recursion options. For example, if this checkbox is unchecked and you have set a recursion to "1 level" or more, then the subfolders are nevertheless processed.
Show folder summary means that summary, consisting of a total number of files, a number of subfolders and a total size of all files in that directory, is printed in the end of the folder listing.
Show global summary means that a total number of files, a number of subfolders and a total size of all files of all folders processed, is printed in the end of the listing.
